Tooth Whitening / Bleaching
Tooth whitening is an excellent, non-invasive way to whiten your teeth. Many different treatment options are available to achieve this. We believe the best option is to use custom trays and a bleaching gel provided by your dentist. In this way you are able to achieve teeth several shades lighter than your existing colour, with minimal sensitivity, in the space of one to two weeks. You are then able to reuse your trays to maintain your result.
All that is required to create the trays is a simple impression of your upper and lower teeth. We then have custom trays fabricated and provide you with the appropriate strength of bleach and instructions to allow you to carry out the process at home. In most cases just 30-45 minutes per night for about one week is all that is needed.
Bleaching of individual teeth that have discoloured due to nerve devitalisation and subsequent root canal treatment is also possible. In these cases we place bleach within the crown of the tooth from a small access point in the back of the tooth. We then allow the bleach to restore the tooth to its original colour over the space of a week. The bleach is then removed and a tooth coloured bonded filling placed in the access.
