TMD Disorder
Temporomandibular joint (TMD) disorders are a group of conditions affecting the TMJ or jaw joint and associated muscles and structures. These problems occur due to muscle overactivity as a result of clenching or grinding your teeth. The result can be restricted jaw movement, pain, clicking joints, headache, neck and earache, and jaw locking.
At Mordialloc Dental Group, we can assess your jaw joint pain and treat it where appropriate with splint therapy and behavioural modification. In more severe cases we will provide you with a referral to a local Oral Medicine practitioner or Physiotherapist who specialises in this area.
