Tooth Erosion and Tooth Wear
Tooth Erosion is caused by an over exposure to acid. We can provide you with dietary advice and preventive treatments such as supplementary fluoride to help reduce acid wear.
In cases where erosion has already occurred, bonding and crowns can be used to restore your teeth’s cosmetics and function and reduce any sensitivity resulting from the erosion.
Chronic teeth grinding and clenching can causes dental wear as well as TMJ (Jaw joint) pain. Wear of teeth has become more of a restorative challenge over the years due to our modern lifestyles, and the fact that we are retaining our teeth longer. At Mordialloc Dental Group we fabricate custom night splints to help you combat the effects of night grinding. Splints can be useful in treating some jaw joint disorders and as well as protecting teeth and restorations from occlusal wear. If wear has already occurred we can determine how rehabilitation of your teeth can be achieved through bonding and crowning of teeth, prior to construction of a protective splint.
