General Dentistry

Our practice provides treatment in all areas of general dentistry. From managing dental pain and sensitivity to restoring and maintaining tooth function.

Our services include tooth coloured fillings, endodontics, dentures, extractions, crowns, bridges and veneers and implant restorations.

We also diagnose and provide treatment for patients with tooth wear, gum disease, jaw joint pain. We work with a number of excellent local dental specialists for all other dental needs.

Tooth Colour Restorations

Natural looking tooth coloured or ‘white’ fillings, are made from strong bonding material that can be used to replace missing tooth structure and restore cosmetics and function to a broken down tooth. Composite restorations can be used for filling new cavities, replacing metal or amalgam fillings, repairing chipped or worn teeth, and provide an economical alternative to ceramic veneers for cosmetic reshaping of teeth

Endodontics / Root Canal Treatment

Root Canal (Endodontic) treatment becomes necessary when the innermost part of the tooth ‘the pulp’ becomes inflamed or infected. This can result in extreme pain if left untreated. To save the tooth, the inflamed or infected pulp needs to be removed, and the tooth disinfected and sealed.  This process is usually carried out over three appointments.  This process results in cessation of your pain and allows the tooth to continue to provide you with function and aesthetics.  Most importantly, your endodontic treatment, contrary to popular myth, can in most cases be carried out completely painlessly.

If you’re having any kind of tooth pain and sensitivity, call us today for an appointment and we’ll provide the appropriate treatment relieve your pain. We endeavour to provide emergency pain relief to all patients on the day.

Crowns and Bridges

Dental crowns cover over and ‘cap’ the tooth on which they are cemented. Dentists use crowns when rebuilding broken down, cracked, worn or discoloured teeth. They are a great way to strengthen teeth post root canal treatment, and can also be used to improve the cosmetic appearance, shape and colour of a tooth or teeth.  The type of crown used in a situation is dependent on the aesthetic and functional requirements of the case.

A bridge is attached to one or more teeth via a bonded wing, or one or more crowns, to replace a missing tooth or teeth. A bridge can help restore function and aesthetics to your mouth where teeth are missing due to extraction or where a tooth fails to develop.  The type of bridge chosen will depend on the size and span of the space, the quality of the adjacent teeth and functional and cosmetic considerations. In those cases where bridgework is not deemed suitable, we can discuss whether dentures or implants are a more suitable alternative.

At Mordialloc Dental Group, we use the very best local laboratories to ensure that the crown and bridgework you receive from us is of the highest quality with excellent cosmetic and functional outcomes.

Dentures (Full and Partial)

Dentures are removable appliances, which are custom fabricated to replace missing teeth. They can be used to replace any number of teeth. We can make a complete denture which replaces all the missing teeth in one or both jaws, or a partial denture designed to fill in gaps These can be used temporarily prior to implant restoration or as a fantastic and economical permanent option for tooth replacement.

Partial dentures can be fabricated in acrylic, or light and durable Cobalt Chrome. Clasp free dentures are also possible.  We work in conjunction with only the highest quality local laboratories to ensure you receive a comfortable and aesthetically natural and pleasing denture. For more on how full or partial dentures can help you, call Mordialloc Dental today.

TMD Disorder

Temporomandibular joint (TMD) disorders are a group of conditions affecting the TMJ or jaw joint and associated muscles and structures. These problems occur due to muscle overactivity as a result of clenching or grinding your teeth. The result can be restricted jaw movement, pain, clicking joints, headache, neck and earache, and jaw locking.

At Mordialloc Dental Group, we can assess your jaw joint pain and treat it where appropriate with splint therapy and behavioural modification. In more severe cases we will provide you with a referral to a local Oral Medicine practitioner or Physiotherapist who specialises in this area.
